Canadian Rockies!
I am back from a week-long trip to the Canadian Rockies. Awesome place, much much better than the American Rockies, much less people. It has more than ten Alpine huts that can be used as base camp for mountaineering. I stayed in one of the huts one night. The logbook recorded many early ascents in the 1930's of the nearby peaks. Boy, the hut was a luxury resort by my standard, with propane lamps, propane stoves and baking oven just like the ones in a regular kitchen, and a huge fire place. It even has two soft chairs and a guitar! I guess they use helicopter to transport the huge propane tanks.
It is the end of the summer season. It had snowed once, but the ice-climbing season hasn't started yet.
