Hello Jane,
I hope you really enjoy your Celestial climb. It is a great peak in a wonderful environment.

This is a website by Kenzo, who is Japanese, working in China for the nature reserve in which Celestial is located. Kenzo will be a good contact if he is around when you visit.

You might be able to have Kenzo email you some additional photos or post them on his website. I have many photos too, but it is somewhat difficult for me to access them.

The north face as well as the east face is very good for wall climbing. I think the north has more options and looks steeper. The east face I descended. The NW ridge seems climbable too. In other words, lots of possibilities! The granite for the most part was solid with many crack systems. There are a number of other peaks in the valley that would offer good climbs.

October is smart time to go, I found spring and summer both too rainy for climbing. I expect it will be pretty cold in October.

The 1st. ascent of Celestial Pk(East face) was made in 1984. A story of the climb (and list of members of the team) can be found in the 1984 American Alpine Journal, page 43.
